GroceryAid’s Scottish Network holds successful quiz night

The GroceryAid Scottish Network held its first event of 2015 – a Quiz Night at the Caledonian Brewery in Edinburgh – on Thursday 19th March, which was attended by 14 teams from across the Scottish grocery industry.

The Network was thrilled to raise over £1,900 at the event as well as achieve the main target for the evening, which was to raise awareness of the work GroceryAid does with new contacts. McCurrach’s Stephen Lennox, Chairman of the GroceryAid Scottish Network, said: “It was a fantastic night with attendance from a lot of new companies.”

Other activities on the night included the auction of Golf for Four at The Carrick and a raffle with more than 20 prizes available. Mark Thomson, Kantar, and a relatively new member of the Scottish Network said: “Everyone I spoke to had a great night.”

The focus of the Scottish Network Committee is to attract the attention of new companies within the industry and inform them of the support that GroceryAid provides. To do this the committee holds three events per year and hopes to expand this number in the coming year.

There will be a second Quiz Night at the Partick Thistle Football Club, Glasgow on Thursday 7th May. The Network hopes that more companies who are not familiar with GroceryAid will come and join in the fun. The events provide an exceptional opportunity to network but are also for a fantastic cause. To enter a team of five people costs £100, which includes food and a drink. Anyone interested in booking should contact events@groceryaid.org.uk to enquire about availability.
