Co-Chairs of the GroceryAid Scotland Committee Jim Harper and Peter Steel have announced that they are to step down from their roles after almost six years.

In those six years the pair have transformed GroceryAid Scotland, building a strong committee of more than 25 people representing all corners of the local retailing and grocery channels in Scotland.

Additionally, the pair have also overseen the launch of Checkout Scotland, the charity’s flagship annual music festival which took place last month in Glasgow.

Committee member and SLR Publisher Antony Begley commented: “When Jim and Peter took over, GroceryAid Scotland was barely surviving. What they have achieved in six years is nothing short of phenomenal and the transformation they have overseen has been spectacular.

“The hours, the passion and the commitment that they put into their roles is inspiring and the fruits of their labour have been felt by industry colleagues across Scotland who have benefited from the financial, emotional and practical support they have received from GroceryAid.”

The Committee is now working to recruit a new Chair to carry on the fantastic work.
