GroceryAid has opened up applications for apprentices looking for extra financial support while undertaking training in the grocery industry.

Working closely with the Food and Drink Federation and The National Skills Academy, GroceryAid aims to support a number of apprentices by offering up to £520 per year. This can be used to help with costs such as living expenses, accommodation, travel, study material and equipment. The offer is valid for up to four years, dependent on proof of continuation of the apprenticeship programme.

GroceryAid’s broad aim is to help those working in the grocery industry. With the new apprenticeship grant the focus is to identify and help those people starting out on their careers and to help encourage a through flow of talent into the industry.

Director General of GroceryAid, Gillian Barker said: “Our focus here is on the younger generation and ensuring their apprenticeship is supported as much as possible. Apprenticeships provide a fantastic means of education and also on the job experience. I am delighted that our apprenticeship grant will help those people who are the future of the grocery industry.”

To be eligible for the Apprenticeship Grant applicants must be a UK resident, be undertaking an apprenticeship in the grocery industry and be the child, or dependent, of someone who has worked, or is currently working, in the grocery industry.

More information about the apprenticeship grant can be found on the GroceryAid website.
