Great night for Scotland at Bestway Awards

Winners from the 2015 Bestway Performance Awards

There were five Scottish wins at this year’s Bestway Performance Awards, held yesterday (5th March) at the London Marriott Hotel, Grosvenor Square.

David Howe of Bellevue in Edinburgh and three of Batleys depots in Scotland are celebrating with their staff after scooping major prizes. Barr Soft Drinks also has good reason to cheer, after winning Supplier of the Year for an unprecedented consecutive third time.

Commenting on his second Overall Manager of the Year win in two years, David Howe recognised the efforts of the Bellevue Edinburgh team. He said: “I am forever telling staff that we have to show consistency and up our game wherever possible as I realise that customers have options when it comes to choosing their wholesaler. At Bellevue we pride ourselves not only on offering the best possible prices and range but also on the level of service and assistance we offer customers.”

The hat-trick of Batleys gongs went to the Glasgow branch for their success in developing the group’s White Pearl ethnic range, Aberdeen general manager Steven Young for his branch’s excellent catering performance and Billy Rhind of Bestway Batleys Foodservice who was awarded the group’s Catering Special Achiever’s Award.

Jonathan Kemp, Barr Soft Drinks Commercial Director, collected the Supplier of the Year Award on behalf of the company. He said “To win it three years on the spin is a fantastic achievement given the level of competition in the industry and my thanks go out to the whole team effort that has made this possible. Wholesale is incredibly important for us as a company, and it is at the heart of what we do.”

The Bestway Performance Awards recognises the achievements of Bestway and Batleys staff across a host of sectors, as well as rewarding staff and departments at head office level. The winners are crowned after scrutiny of a set of selected criteria and detailed input from supplier partners.

Zameer Choudrey, Bestway Group Chief Executive, said all of the winners were excellent examples of the talent the group possesses. He commented: “I and my fellow directors are extremely grateful to them – and indeed to all our staff – who continue to make sure that Bestway and Batleys depots lead from the front in terms of customer service and engagement and realise our mission of building business for independents.”

Choudrey concluded: “The BPA’s are incredibly important to us as it offers us an opportunity to recognise those within Bestway and Batleys who have made an outstanding contribution to our success and showcase to our supplier partners the talent that will be driving our mutual businesses in the coming years.”
