Amin Mirza

Former Nisa retailer Mohammed Amin Mirza (pictured) has had his home and business raided by Police Scotland. According to reports in The Daily Record, customs officers seized £900,000 in a series of raids on the local retailer.

It is alleged that the cash was kept in plastic bags, with £400,000 in his Glasgow home and a further £500,000 in a safe in one of his stores. The raids were carried out as part of an investigation into a £4m VAT fraud.

Mirza operates Nisa stores in Cambuslang, Gorbals and Haghill. He has been charged with fraudulently evading VAT.

In a statement, Nisa told SLR: “Nisa Retail Ltd can confirm that while Mohammed Ameen Mirza was previously a member, he ceased trading with Nisa in May 2014 and left the group in September 2014. Due to the ongoing nature of this investigation we’re unable to comment further.”
