Bolton born and ‘bread’ (geddit?) comedian Peter Kay is following in the footsteps of Sylvester Stallone and the Muppets by appearing in a Warburtons commercial.
The bread maker is keeping details of the TV campaign closely under wraps, but has confirmed it will hit TV screens later in the year.
Images released by Warburtons show the comedy legend at the Bakery’s headquarters pulling out all the stops to persuade Jonathan Warburton to buy into his new great idea.
Peter Kay, who grew up near the Bolton bakery, said he was delighted to filming there – mostly because he could go home for his tea.
“I can’t believe I’ll be following in the footsteps of Sylvester Stallone,” he continued. “Also, I don’t understand why Sly didn’t ask to get paid in free bread for life, he missed a right trick there, ah well, it’s Sly’s loss.”
Jonathan Warburton added: “As a family business, we take our baking seriously but we don’t take ourselves too seriously, so working with someone like Peter has been great fun.”
