Heinz is celebrating 50 years of its advertising slogan ‘Beanz Meanz Heinz’.
‘Beanz Meanz Heinz’ was penned in 1967 by Maurice Drake, Head of Copy at ad agency Young & Rubicam, following a brief from Heinz to create an advert that helped them to stand out as the original and best beans brand.
It’s fair to say that Heinz certainly got its money’s worth, given that 99% of the UK’s population can complete the slogan without being prompted. It has also been voted one of the greatest ad taglines of all time.
Lucy Clark, Marketing Lead at Kraft Heinz, said: “As the number one beans brand, Beanz truly does mean Heinz. We take huge pride in this much-loved household staple, from the laser technology that scrutinises every single bean to the top-secret spice recipe we use for the sauce. Maurice Drake’s slogan summed it up perfectly and the popularity of the numerous adverts that followed is testament to that. It’s an incredible achievement to have a tagline that continues to strike a chord 50 years after it was first penned and we hope its legacy will continue for many years to come.”
