Fed’s Scottish conference looms

Crowne Plaza Glasgow

Store security and the continuing fight against retail crime are among the main topics for discussion at the NFRN’s Scotland trade and business conference held in Glasgow next week.

Delegates will gather at the city’s Crowne Plaza Hotel for the conference on Tuesday 29 March, where Scottish Government Minister Tom Arthur MSP and Scottish Labour Leader Anas Sarwar MSP will deliver presentations and take part in question and answer sessions.

Arthur, the Minister for public finance, planning and community wealth, will give a presentation on the future of retail, while Sarwar, focusing on current key retail issues, will give the traditional Alex St John address.

The Chair of the Scottish Police Federation, Inspector David Hamilton, will give a speech on the true cost to life and business of retail crime, and Carol Wyllie, from the Scottish Business Resilience Centre, will offer valuable insights on retail crime and security.

There will also be a session to help independent retailers prepare for the Deposit Return Scheme in Scotland, which is due to come into force on August 16, 2023, presented by representatives from vending machine manufacturer Sielaff and waste management company Biffa.

Scottish Fed President Ferhan Ashiq said: “We have an excellent line-up of speakers at this year’s conference and I’m really looking forward to meeting our members from across the country and taking part in some important debates and discussions. I’m sure it will be an interesting and very informative day.”
