As part of its “We Are” campaign, Whyte & Mackay last month launched the world’s first pub situated on top of a 150ft crane in Glasgow. UTC isn’t sure how many pubs have opened on top of 150ft cranes in other cities but he suspects it isn’t many. At only 23 sq m the temporary ‘The Lion’s Clyde’ is also be one of Scotland’s smallest pubs. It has been said of UTC that he would go to the ends of the Earth to get hold of a dram, so climbing a 150ft crane seems a perfectly acceptable challenge.
