Independent Irish distillery, Dingle, has launched new Cónocht an Earraigh Single Malt.
The whiskey is the sixth release in Dingle’s Celtic Wheel of the Year series, a limited-edition run of whiskeys which pay homage to Ireland’s cultural heritage of equinoxes and solstices.
Following the November launch of Grianstad an Gheimhrid, Cónocht an Earraigh will be the rarest release in the Dingle Wheel series to date, with only 5,500 bottles available.
Bottled at 50.5% ABV, Cónocht an Earraigh honours the ancient celebration of the spring equinox, when day and night are equal in length.
It is triple distilled in Dingle’s Kerry distillery and matured in first-fill bourbon casks, before a long finish in Cabernet Sauvignon wine casks.
The result is a single malt with notes of rich red fruits, subtle spice, and gingerbread. Hints of roasted almonds, muscovado sugar, and spice provide a lingering finish in the mouth.
Chris Jones, Managing Director of Paragon Brands, which distributes Dingle in the UK, said: “The Wheel Series is a testament to Dingle’s deep-rooted connection to its cultural heritage, celebrating the ever-changing seasons and beautiful landscapes of Ireland, which continue to inspire the distillery’s craft to this day.
“As a purveyor of unique and unusual spirits, it’s an honour for Paragon Brands to champion this fantastic piece of Irish heritage. We look forward to launching the final three parts of the series later this year.”
Dingle Cónocht an Earraigh Single Malt is available in the UK in 70cl bottles (RSP £73.53) from Paragon Brands.
