Co-op gets go-ahead for reverse vending machine in East Linton

The Co-op Group has been given permission for a reverse vending machine behind its store in East Linton.

The retailer wants to put in a vending machine in preparation for Scotland’s deposit return scheme, which has been delayed until at least October 2025.

East Lothian Council’s planning department noted there had been no objections from members of the public to the proposals at 53 High Street.

The planning officer deemed the machine would “not harm the character or appearance” of the business, the surrounding area or East Linton Conservation Area.

Co-op has also applied for planning permission for a reverse vending machine outside its store at Shamrock Street, Dunfermline.
