Spar wholesaler CJ Lang & Son has been visited by the Minister for Public Finance, Planning and Community Wealth, Tom Arthur MSP, who toured its Dundee distribution centre.
The minister also met with the wholesaler’s Chief Executive, Colin McLean, and other senior members of its team and staff in the depot.
Arthur was keen to gain insight into the company’s processes and challenges throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.
McLean said: “We were thrilled to give Mr Arthur a brief history of the company, followed by a full tour of our facility at Dundee including all chambers within the warehouse and logistics department. We appreciate the time and effort he and his team took out of their schedule to learn about how we kept Spar stores filled with essential items for local communities around Scotland during the pandemic.”
“It’s been a challenging 18 months but thanks to a fantastic team effort we’ve managed to ensure our stock has continued to roll out of our depot to over 300 stores the length and breadth of Scotland.”
Arthur added: “We are grateful for the essential role food retailers and wholesalers such as CJ Lang & Son have played during this pandemic amid difficult and unprecedented circumstances.
“We know the situation is fragile and would encourage all businesses and shoppers to continue to follow public health guidance on reducing the risk of Covid-19 and supporting staff and customers.”
