Renton’s Newsagents and Post Office in the village of Chirnside, on the Scottish borders, has changed hands.

Retailers Sajeef Perinpamoorthy and his wife Gayathri Raveendran have taken over the reins of the business from Gillian and Malcolm Renton who have served the residents of Chirnside and beyond for decades.

Gillian Renton said: “It has been a great journey for us over 12 years since we bought the shop in 2011. Support from customers old and new, family and friends. I can’t thank you all enough.”

The store had been marketed by Christie & Co.
