Chiquita is once more turning the blue stickers on its bananas pink, in a bid to raise awareness for breast cancer.
Building on the success of last year’s campaign, the banana producer is adding a splash of colour to UK consumers’ fruit bowls.
Commencing in retail and wholesale throughout the UK in October, alongside the annual international Breast Cancer Awareness month, more than one million bananas will look pretty in pink, with the signature ribbon added to the brand’s Miss Chiquita logo.
John Cockle, Sales and Market Director for Chiquita, commented: “As one of the UK’s most popular fruits, bananas are a staple in the family fruit bowl and thousands of people pick them up every day.
“Turning our iconic blue stickers pink for the month will not only grab people’s attention, but also raise awareness of an incredibly important issue that affects so many people every year.”
In addition, Chiquita has partnered with Lauren Mahon, founder of GIRL vs CANCER, a charity devoted to giving support to those within the cancer community. Chiquita has been working with Mahon to create a banana version of her ‘Tit Tee’ t-shirts, in a bid to raise money for the charities CoppaFeel!, Trekstock, Breast Cancer Haven and Look Good Feel Better.
