Nestlé Confectionery’s Caramac brand has unveiled a new launch which heralds a move away from a bar format for the first time in its history.
The new Caramac Buttons sharing bag (110g) has an rrp of £1.59, with stock available from 31st August.
Nestlé says the new format will enable more opportunities for the brand to be shared with friends and family, thus capitalising on the key consumer trend for sharing confectionery and informal socialising.
Across the total market chocolate sharing bags have grown 50% in consumer sales value over the past four years, with Nestlé Confectionery’s range growing ahead of the market at 75% over the same period.
A Nestlé UK & Ireland spokesperson said: “Since it was launched more than 50 years ago, Caramac has been a mainstay of confectionery fixtures across the UK. Whilst it has its hardcore following of fans, its classic caramel flavour also ensures the brand has broad appeal and therefore there is an excellent opportunity to extend it into growing areas of the confectionery category such as sharing bags.”
