Brancott Estate is celebrating 40 years since the first Sauvignon Blanc vines were planted on the Brancott vineyard, with the launch of a limited edition bottle that pays homage to its heritage, as well as introducing the 2015 vintage to the range.
The limited edition bottles feature a new label highlighting the 40th anniversary message. The design attempts to generate interest on shelf and capture the attention of consumers, driving further value into the £347m New Zealand wine category.
Meanwhile, with one of the best vintages on record, the release of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2015 is an example of the style pioneered by Brancott Estate, with ripe fruit aromas of citrus, tropical fruit and herbal highlights.
The 2015 growing season saw the driest weather in 85 years, which threw up conditions that the vineyard had never before encountered.
Patrick Materman, Brancott Estate Chief Winemaker, explained: “Happily, the weather worked in our favour throughout the season and we’ve ended up with a vintage of exceptional quality and concentration of flavours. After four decades, we are still exploring the potential of our vineyards and are excited to see what we discover in the next 40 years.”
Toni Ingram, Head of Wine & Champagne at Pernod Ricard UK, added: “Brancott Estate has been a brand of many firsts and as the pioneer of the New Zealand wine category and the first winery to plant Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc in 1975, continues to go from strength to strength.”
A nationwide media campaign consisting of out-of-home and digital activity will support the launch.
The Brancott Estate limited edition bottle will be available nationwide, rrp £10.99.
