Bestway Wholesale is urging retailers to get behind ‘better for you’ snacks as consumers look to healthier options in their diet.
The company is extending its listings of protein snacks and drinks, natural snacks and infant feeding products to match growing shopper expectations and trends.
Director of trading for retail grocery, Ed Smeaton, explained: “There is a huge consumer trend for healthier food and drink and, as a result, protein and healthier snacking products are performing very strongly. Due to the nature of many products being ‘on the go’, convenience stores are well placed to capitalise on these trends. Alongside the extra demand, there is also a shift from more traditional products to newer healthier products which means it is vital for stores to adapt their range”.
January is traditionally a time when consumers adopt a healthier lifestyle after the excesses of the festive period and make resolutions for the year ahead and is the perfect time to tap into these new growth areas. By stocking a good core range of healthier snacks and drinks, retailers can gain additional sales and footfall. Many of the ranges such as Eat Real, Whitworth Shots and Ella’s Kitchen are new to the business and will be trialled in several depots while the current ranges of Protein Bars and Drinks are bolstered.
Bestway will also be working with manufacturers in the New Year to bring a range of special dietary products – including gluten-free lines – to retailers to ensure its customers continue to meet shopper demands.
Smeaton concluded: “As a wholesaler it is part of our remit to help customers understand the latest trends and make these products available to retailers so that they can satisfy the ever-evolving consumer demand.”
