Bestway Chief Executive Officer Zameer Choudrey beat off stiff opposition from top executives to join the grocery industry’s Hall of Fame by lifting The Grocer Cup at last night’s (Tuesday) Institute of Grocery Distribution Dinner at Westminster’s Park Plaza Hotel.
The ten-strong award shortlist was comprised of CEOs and senior leaders of many national chains including Aldi, Lidl, Greggs and the Co-op with manufacturers Britvic, Allied Bakeries and Muller also nominated.
Choudrey (pictured above, centre) was delighted with the award and follows in the footsteps of Bestway Group chairman Sir Anwar Pervez who received the same accolade in 2005.
He said the award was a real honour for both himself and the Bestway Group: “This award is only possible due to the support and dedication of my 34,000 colleagues around the globe and across the various Bestway divisions and I am collecting this award on their behalf.”
Adding that exceptional leadership was the cornerstone of the Bestway business, Choudrey thanked those who “have contributed to the Bestway success story” and those who voted for him.
