Australian pasta maker Rinoldi is dipping its toe into the UK market with a launch into the functional foods category under its Vetta brand.
Vetta High Fibre Pasta is available in four varieties – Penne, Fusilli, Fettuccine and Spaghetti – and offers consumers a high-fibre option that looks and tastes the same as standard, everyday pasta.
The High Fibre range is low GI and naturally low in fat, which Vetta says makes it ideal for those monitoring their blood glucose levels, or for those looking to introduce low GI foods into their everyday diets.
Mark Perrin, European Managing Director at Vetta commented: “We are thrilled to be launching in the UK and addressing the increasing demand for functional foods.”
“When most people think of high-fibre it is often associated with wholegrain, thick, heavy products that are nutritionally beneficial yet less appealing in taste; the Vetta range is created using authentic Italian pasta-making techniques and provides an easy way to increase fibre intake without altering the taste or eating experience. This also makes it a great way for parents to increase their child’s fibre intake, without the added stress of trying to change what they eat.”
The launch is being supported by a social media drive and targeted outreach to key influencers, in an attempt to create a buzz and demand ahead of listings being secured.
Other products in the Vetta Smart Pasta portfolio, which are yet to enter the UK market, include High Protein Low Carb, Cholesterol Lowering, and Hidden Veg with Peas & Corn.
