Arla Foods’ creameries enjoyed success at the recent Global Cheese Awards, with exceptional recognition given to its Taw Valley creamery which was awarded the 2015 Danisco Grand Prix Trophy. Overall, Arla’s creameries, including Taw Valley, Lockerbie, Llandyrnog, Tuxford & Tebbutt and Trevarrian walked away with 83 awards, exceeding last year’s tally of 52.
The 83 awards included 10 trophies, 23 Gold awards, 28 Silver awards, 21 Bronze awards and one Highly Commended award.
Competing against cheeses from around the world, Arla won the Danisco Grand Prix Trophy for the second year in a row, which was picked up by North Tawton-based creamery, Taw Valley. Awarded on a points-based basis following the culmination of the summer season, including a series of shows such as the International Cheese Awards at Nantwich and the Great Yorkshire Show, the Trophy was presented in recognition for being the most consistent maker of finest-quality mature cheddar.
The performance at the Global Cheese Awards follows a fruitful season that also saw Arla Foods win a variety of accolades including a special prize for Best Scottish Cheese at the Royal Highland Show. Arla Foods also secured four trophies at Nantwich International Cheese Awards including The Coombe Castle International Award for Best Export Cheese and The GEA Award for The Best English Cheese.
Sarah Baldwin, Vice President Marketing, Arla UK commented: “This year has already been a great year for us with a successful awards season for our products, so to have received more accolades at the recent Global Cheese Awards is fantastic.”
