PayPoint has launched a new service called Amazon Top Up, that allows customers to add credit to their Amazon account in-store using cash.
An Amazon Top Up can be purchased in two ways. Customers can either request a top up barcode through their Amazon app which they present in-store and pay in cash to update their online account balance. Or, they can request a Top Up amount at the till to get a unique code printed on a receipt to redeem online.
To promote the new service, Amazon is offering customers £5 in credit when they top up £20 or more in-store, up until October 31.
Lewis Alcraft, Commercial Director for PayPoint, said: “Amazon Top Up makes over 150 million products available to customers who do not have access to online payment methods or want to control their household spending by using cash.
“We’re always looking for ways to innovate and add value to our retailers and Amazon Top Up is the latest in a long line of firsts. This service shows that online and offline retailers can work together to take advantage of the substantial growth in e-commerce.”
Amazon Top Ups are available in any value between £5 – £250 in 1p increments. The service is in addition to the current Amazon digital top up vouchers with PIN on receipt.
